Silver Bullet to the Slave Economy (Tribute to The Pixies)

The Pixies saw it coming all the way back in 1989 with their song “Silver”, described in its day as a “spaghetti-western wannabee song” but which 20+ years later reveals itself as nothing short of visionary in predicting –albeit cryptically– the significance of the metal of noted vampire slaying fame in our troubled times.

Video below for full tribute music mode.

In this land of strangers, there are dangers, there are sorrows…
Debt is the law of the land of strangers, issued to the slaves in paper and plastic and computer bits in a complex simulation of a real economy that invariably ends up with us owing money to strangers. Strangers in the guise of taxmen, of corporate monopolies and financial institutions who weave a tangled web of deception to keep us feeding them our sweat and blood. In this land, a few are fabulously rich and everyone else increasingly wretched, because our sorrows are their lifeblood and if there’s no pain for us there’s no gain for them.

I can’t see this lady, it is shady. I am leaving tomorrow…
Shady is the way of the strangers; manipulation and deceit from the shadows to keep us in the dark. They have hidden lady Liberty behind a thick veil even as the wars rage, the winds blow and the funny money keeps getting funnier and funnier. Many are too entangled to realize that something’s gotta give, and that we’re gonna be doing the giving. Others try to shrug off the chains before getting dragged down with the ship and yet others are looking beyond the current paradigm to what is coming and getting ready to make for the hills if tomorrow isn’t already too late.

Even there’s a reason, it’s silver, it’s gone…
There are many reasons why it’s silver and why it’s gone. The price of this precious metal has been manipulated by the strangers to further their nefarious goals, but the cat is out of the bag and the scramble is on to buy and take possesion of physical silver while it’s still affordable. Silver coins have an inherent metal value which funny money is lacking, and when flipped they ring with a special timbre that sounds like genuine is supposed to sound.

But it’s going, going… almost gone. Silver has ten thousand different industrial uses, literally. A Tomahawk missile contains 16 kilograms or over 500 oz of silver between electronic components, gears, heat shields and other bits and pieces. Tons of pure silver was volatized in the first few days of the Libya caper alone. Tons more disappears everyday in trashed appliances because the amounts are too small to be recovered. Meanwhile, silver production is not growing apace with demand.

The strangers are doing everything in their power to keep silver from becoming valuable again because physical silver is not debt but wealth that can’t be robbed of its inherent value and if it falls into the hands of the slaves we might decide to use it as currency. Then again, we may simply sit around flipping the coins and listening to their timbre, while the strangers scramble to cover their short positions month after month as the bullet approaches. Let their sorrows begin…

  1. Unfortunately, the end should be raised:
